How to identify pharaoh ants

Workers are just 1/16 inch, pale yellow to light brown, with two nodes and a dark-tipped abdomen. Colonies contain many queens.

They nest in warm, hidden voids — wall cavities, appliances, and behind fixtures — and forage widely indoors year-round in heated buildings. Spraying triggers budding, scattering the colony into several new ones.

Why pharaoh ants are a problem
