Salty Dog Pest Control

Moisture Ant Control

Moisture ants nest in damp, decaying wood — and finding them is often a warning sign of a hidden moisture problem in your island home. Salty Dog Pest Control treats the ants and flags the conditions behind them.

What moisture ants signal

Unlike ants that simply forage indoors, moisture ants are drawn to wet, softened wood — around leaks, poor drainage, crawl spaces, and areas of chronic dampness. Their presence frequently points to a moisture or structural issue worth addressing before it worsens, which is common in the coastal, older housing stock of Whidbey and Fidalgo.

Where they nest

Crawl spaces, wall voids near plumbing, window and door frames, and any wood kept damp by leaks or condensation.

How we treat moisture ants

We locate and treat the nest, then point out the moisture conditions feeding the colony so you can correct them. Where nests tie to the crawl space, we coordinate with our crawl space restoration work for a lasting result.

Moisture ant FAQ

Are moisture ants the same as carpenter ants? Both nest in wood, but moisture ants specifically target damp, decaying wood — see also our carpenter ant control.
